Review of .308/7.62 Ammo for the M1A Rifle Review of .308/7.62 Ammo for the M1A Rifle

What .308 Ammo to choose? So, having been in the world of the M1A/M14, I have become kind of an ammo snob. Not necessarily out of name recognition for the manufacture, or because I think that only expensive ammo or items will do. This has come from the conclusion that I dropped a lot of money into the rifle of my dreams, and I want this rifle to function... [Read more of this review]

Review: Vortex Viper 6.5-20X44mm Mildot Scope and Vortex Low Rings Review: Vortex Viper 6.5-20X44mm Mildot Scope and Vortex Low Rings

Let me start off with this, the customer service and support offered by Vortex Optics in Madison WI is top notch. I originally purchased the Vortex Crossfire 4-16X50 Illuminated MilDot from OpticsPlanet.com. First outing with the crossfire was not good. 15 rounds into the very first range trip with the scope and new M1A, the crosshairs started to rotate... [Read more of this review]

    • Scout vs. Standard July 9, 2014
New to the forum - have gone through every topic on here and finally decided to post as could not find a similar topic. I'm finally going to get an M1A and am trying to decide between a standard and a scout, leaning towards the scout. I've been blessed in that I already have a couple of Garands, AR's, and M1 carbines. May use it in CMP matches
    • Optics for M1A Scout? July 9, 2014
Merry Christmas from Pennsylvania everyone! I hope everyone got all the bullets and magazines they could ever want for Christmas as I see I'm not the only one concerned about getting magazines and ammo in the future. I believe they will be available but expensive. I hope I'm wrong. Anyway, my question regards optics.I have a Scout and have been sho

    • Why we own our M1A's.......... December 22, 2013
Just curious as to why people chose their M1A's, I'll start....... When i was 12 i was already a miltary history buff, being the son of a soon to retire Vietnam era NCO i guess it was given i would be military obsessed. That year Ken hackathorn wrote and article on a specialized M-14 him and Another man built specifically for military consideration

    • My new ride July 19, 2014
I like hot rods, muscle cars and trucks. My summer ride is a 1994 Ford Lightning. I'm not wild about it being orange and will eventually return it to the original color. Who doesn't lile a little white lightning now and then. Probably going to get me into trouble. Attached Thumbnails

So my daily driver is an 01 Superduty. I love my truck, but my truck is going to hit 200k inside the next couple of weeks. Things aren't as good and things are going.to be needing tlc. Expensive things like my transmission. While I have no intention of parting with it, I did stop at the Ford store to see just what they might have. A focus is priced reas
    • Leaded Barrel Cleaning April 21, 2014
So I have been shooting a lot of cast bullets in my handguns, saves money. But as a added bonus it likes to fowl my barrels with lead deposits. Up till now it has been old #9, brush and patches to get the lead out. Today I tried something new. I gave Remington 40x a go. Bought it at WalMart. Wow that was impressive. It made the barrel mighty clean quick like
    • @ The range... March 27, 2014
This morning bright and earily, before opening today, I was there for a little fun. Invited was my young 17yo co worker. I had promised range time with the m4. What I didn't tell him was I had a little challenge with pistols devised. Now about 2 weeks ago he was on the 300 doing poorly with his 270. New gun never shooting at 300yds before. I still gave
